Today my niece turned 23, so a naughty birthday cake was in order!!!
I decided just to do a funny word cake using NERDS but the impact of it was not great so I added the drunk vomiting passed-out Barbie doll and the goon bag (her favourite) I am glad I added this at the last minute, it just gave it that extra punch the cake needed 😂
I have done a quick tutorial on how to do the quote/word lolly cake below
This cake decorating is easy and there is not much to this cake. It is easy to customise, so you can do any word or name you like on it, it does not have to be a swear word or this rude.
DIY Supplies
- Cake (Make or buy a premade base from the supermarket)
- Frosting/icing
- Lollies, I used WONKA NERD Rainbow Candy
- Cardstock
- Craft knife
HOW TO MAKE A CUSTOM WORD CAKE WITH CANDY
- Bake a cake in the desired shape or buy a premade one from the supermarket bakery
- Separate the colours of your lollies/candy into bowls. I used Willy Wonka NERDS but I think Skittles would be easier in the long run. This can take a while so sort the colours while watching some TV. Wear rubber gloves
- Draw a basic word stencil the same size as your cake and cut it out with scissors or a craft knife. This does not have to be perfect, it's a fun cake and placing sweets on your cake is never going to be perfect so the stencil doesn't have to be either.
- Put your frosting on the cake.
- Place the stencil on the cake and fill it with one colour. Once filled take the stencil off slowly and now you can place the other colours around the word. I used a piece of paper to keep a straight line for my design.
AND THAT'S IT!!!!! you can continue with your lollies all around the edge or throw on some other candy. I used some sour rainbow strips for the edge because I was running out of time.
The reaction I got from my cake was
"Oh, my god!!!! Best cake ever!!!!! Thank you for knowing me so well. Hahahaha"
and my fav bit.... a Facebook status update "My Aunty is a dead-set legend. Best birthday cake, ever!"
now everyone say awwwww 😂😅
And for non-Aussies who do not know what SLAG means... click here
My niece isn't the true meaning of a slag but Australian slang is hard to understand, we swear a lot and call each other rude things, but this is a compliment honestly 😁
*I did not think up the drunk Barbie doll, I have seen it done a few times around the net. this is just another take on it
